ThinkVantage Active Protection System

What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides the software support for the ThinkVantage Active
Protection System under the Windows 2000/XP platform.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad R50, R50p, R51, R52
  - ThinkPad T41, T41p, T42, T42p, T43, T43p
  - ThinkPad T60, T60p
  - ThinkPad X40 *1, X41, X41 Tablet, X60, X60s
  - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t

Note:
 *1 ThinkPad X40 BIOS Version:1.13(1UET62WW) or higher and Embedded 
 Controller Program: 1.12(1UHT58WW) or higher are required to enable 
 ThinkVantage Active Protection System. Please update BIOS and 
 Embedded Controller Program if necessary. For more detail, please refer 
 to release notes of the BIOS and Embedded Controller Program.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
NOTE:
- Software Installer Version 3.20 (or later) provides install
  and uninstall wizard for this package.


UNINSTALL FOR Windows 2000:
 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Select ThinkVantage Active Protection System.
    (If the previous verion of this software is existed and
    you find "IBM Active Protection System" in the list,
    select "IBM Active Protection System". )
 5. Click Change/Remove.
 6. Click OK.
 7. Click Finish.
 8. Restart the system.


UNINSTALL FOR Windows XP:
 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Select ThinkVantage Active Protection System.
    (If the previous verion of this software is existed and
    you find "IBM Active Protection System" in the list,
    select "IBM Active Protection System". )
 5. Click Change/Remove.
 6. Click OK.
 7. Click Finish.
 8. Restart the system.


INSTALL FOR Windows 2000/XP:
 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, then click Run.
 3. Click the Browse button.
 4. Select the folder where ThinkVantage Active Protection System
    package is stored.
 5. Select Setup.exe.
 6. Click the Open button.
 7. Click OK.
 8. Click Next.
 9. Click Next.
10. Click Finish and restart the system.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
Windows 2000:
 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click ThinkVantage Active Protection.
 4. Click Real-time Status tab on ThinkVantage Active Protection
    System Properties.  The version information will appear under 
    "Software Version."

Windows XP:
 1. Start Windows XP.
 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click ThinkVantage Active Protection.
 4. Click Real-time Status tab on ThinkVantage Active Protection
    System Properties.  The version information will appear under 
    "Software Version."


UNATTENDED INSTALL FOR Windows 2000/XP:
 This is for system administrators' use only.
 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
 3. Click Start, then click Run.
 4. Type [Program Path]\setup -s -SMS and click OK.
    [Program Path] is the full path name where you extracted
    the package in the step 2.
